JosefinaMontoya is a girl of heart and hope growing up in New Mexico in 1824. Ever since her Mama died, Josefina and her sisters have bravely met the challenges of the rancho without her. As they watch the new americano traders arrive from the east, they struggle to hold on to their mother's love and the old ways she taught them. Josefina dreams of becoming a healer like her TiaMagdalena. She feels lucky to have her family and faith to guide her!
My 9 year old daughter loves the American Girl books and dolls. I love American history and teaching. What a perfect combination. I thought what a great way to learn American history but through the eyes of a young girl. I planned a year long American history based on the American Girl books. I decided to offer these classes to other young girls. What a great way to learn history, craft and just have fun the American Girl way: “celebrating girls and all that they can be”.
